Straight answers

How much is my business worth?

Most main-street businesses sell for 1.5 to 2.5 times what the owner really makes in a year. That means salary plus profit plus the personal things the business pays for. The proven number is almost always higher than the owner's guess.

Why not use a broker?

If your business will sell for more than about $500,000, a broker makes sense. Below that, most brokers say no, or their $10,000 minimum fee eats your sale. We charge one flat fee. You keep everything.

Why three years of tax returns?

Because your buyer's bank asks for exactly that. Three years also shows the true pattern, not one lucky or unlucky year. One salon's latest year looked bad. Three years proved it was one expensive hire, and that was worth tens of thousands on her price.

My buyer has no money. Is it over?

No. Most small business sales work through seller financing or a bank loan. Your package shows the exact monthly payment your buyer can afford.

Do I still need a lawyer?

Once, at the end, for the closing papers. One flat fee, usually paid out of the sale money. We handle everything before that.
